Christmas

Here's how you can help struggling families this Christmas

Here are the ways you can help us to make Christmas easier for those in our community who will otherwise find it so difficult to provide for their families.  This year we won’t be able to receive bigger items or toys because of lack of storage space, so it’s even more important to us to provide what we can to those in need.

Gift a Christmas Day Dinner   £10 will allow someone in need to buy the makings for a Christmas dinner. We will gift someone a supermarket gift card to buy the provisions for a Christmas Day meal with your donations.

A reverse advent calendar is so easy to make and this is such a great cause.  You will need:

  • An empty carrier bag, (Please don’t donate with boxes).
  • Non perishable food from your pantry or local shops
  • An open heart

A reverse advent calendar is the opposite of a normal advent calendar.  Instead of opening a door each day and taking something out, you begin with an empty box and every day you put something in.  When it’s full, you donate it to your local foodbank.   This makes such a huge difference to us in January when stocks are low.  Please drop your advent boxes off on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays between 10 and 12 in the first or second week of January.  We do not open on bank holidays.

The drop-off address is:

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays  Times: 10 am till 12 noon
Address: Canterbury studios (1/2 studio)
77a Canterbury Road, SM4 6QW

Here’s a list of items we especially need this Christmas.  We have an abundance of pasta.

  • Canned veg
  • Cookies / biscuits
  • Canned soup
  • Chocolate spread / Jam
  • Shower gel / shampoo
  • Instant Coffee
  • Tea bags
  • Feminine hygiene products
