What’s in a food parcel?
Our foodbank provides three days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.
The Trussell Trust has worked with nutritionists to ensure food parcels contains sufficient nutrition for at least three days worth of healthy, balanced meals for individuals and families.
A typical food parcel includes:
- Breakfast cereal
- Soup
- Pasta
- Rice
- Pasta sauce
- Tinned beans
- Tinned meat
- Tinned fish
- Tinned vegetables
- Tinned fruit
- Rice pudding/custard
- Tea or coffee
- Sugar
- Long life milk
- Juice
- Biscuits
- Snacks
Dietary requirements
Our foodbank can usually adapt your food parcel to meet your dietary needs, for example gluten free or vegetarian. When you arrive at the foodbank centre, a volunteer will chat to you about any special dietary requirements you may have.
For Halal foods please contact Food Relief Saturday Food Bank which operates under the charity Morden Islamic Community Centre. It is open on Saturdays between 11 am and 1 pm at 116 London Road SM4 5AX (just behind Merton Civic Centre.)
